W. Jay Carothers:

Jay has been supporting Elmsmere Associates for 5 years assisting with development projects in a variety of industries including Retail, Advertising, Financial Services and Technology. He has 25 years of corporate experience, starting in Finance and then moving into Operational and General Management roles. Jay spent several years with Macy’s as SVP Finance, Operations and HR for the Corporate Buying division and then became the Vice Chairman for that same unit. After the merger with Federated, Jay held the position of President of Federated Merchandising. Jay then moved to Filene’s Basement, Inc, as COO; to Belk, Inc. as President of the eCommerce division and finally joined Levitz Home Furnishings as COO and then later, Chairman & CEO. Jay holds a BS degree from the U.S. Navel Academy and also has an MBA in Marketing from The Citadel. Jay resides in Pinehurst, NC, is married to wife, Lisa, and has one son, Jason.
